2008 Perseid Meteor Shower

UPDATE   =>   2010 Perseid Meteor Shower

The Perseid Meteor Shower peaks every year around August 12th.  This year the peak is the night of August 11th (Monday) and the morning of August 12th (Tuesday).  The moon sets around 2AM, so the best viewing time will be in the early morning hours.

It is a spectacular show with 50+ meteors per hour easily (especially in dark areas).

I am hoping to see some here in Houston, but we will be in Big Bend National Park on August 16, so I am really hoping the meteors will still be visible as I will be in one of the darkest places in the lower 48.
